Ric to go with Women's team for Olympic qualifier

{image-ric charlesworth_22032008.jpg news.oneindia.in}New Delhi, Mar 22: Technical advisor Ric Charlesworth will accompany the Indian Women's hockey team to Kazan (Russia) for the Olympic Qualifier.

The Six-nation qualifying tournament is scheduled to be held from April 19 to 27 and the Indian women team will leave here for Kazan on April 10th.
Charlesworth is leaving for Lucknow tomorrow morning to join the team which is undergoing a training cum coaching camp there. Because of this very crucial tournament ,Charlesworth will not be accompanying the senior men's to Australia for the four-nation tournament.

The men's team is schedule to leave for Perth, Australia, on April 18 for a four-nation tournament, also featuring the hosts, Korea and China and the dates clash with the Women's qualifier.

''We are thrilled to have Charlesworth with our team,'' Indian Women Hockey Federation (IWHF) secretary Amrit Bose told UNI here.

''Coach MK Kaushik is eager to work with Charlesworth as both are keen to see the Indian women team qualify for the Beijing Olympiad,'' Mrs Bose said adding,''there is no ego problem, we welcome every help which will help us get berth in the Beijing.'' ''We hope Charlesworth's experience will be of help to the girls and team will perform well in Kazan.Only the title winner will qualify for the Olympics.'' she added.

Charlesworth, however, will be avaialble for the men's team the Azlan Shah Tournament to be held in Malaysia from May 8 to 18.

After that he will be accompanying the team for a four-nation tournament in Dublin to be played in June
