My job is to ensure that team wins series: Kirsten

By Staff

Chennai, Mar 22 (UNI) Former South African batsmen and Indian coach Gary Kirsten today said his main job was to ensure that a bunch of very talented players in Team India perform to their potential and win the current series.

Addressing a joint press conference along with Team India Captain Anil Kumble, he said ''I am really enjoying to be associated with the team and hopefully I can pass on my experience to the players to nurture their ability''.

When asked about Indian captain Anil Kumble's association with him, Kirsten said ''he (Kumble) proved his worth as an international cricketer and I certainly enjoy associating with him as a coach.'' ''I have interacted with the Indian team for three weeks when they were touring Australia'', he said adding that it would help to go a step ahead to pass my experience.

Asked about his report to Cricket Board that the fielding coach was not necessary being leaked to the media, Kirsten denied the same and said ''I am not aware of the media reports and I have not sent any report to the Board''.
