Mumbai celebrates Holi with gaiety and enthusiasm

Mumbai, Mar 22: Streets of the metropolis have come alive with the chants of ''Holi Hai Holi'', as people today celebrated this festival of colours with gaiety, enthusiasm and spirit of brotherhood.

Apart from enjoying this festival, which marks the end of winter and the bloom of spring, by applying colours to each other, people were also seen waiting in long queues in various temples of the city to evoke the blessings of their favourite deities.

Singing and dancing was also an inseparable part of this festival and people could be seen dancing to both traditional songs and famous numbers of Hindi films.

Many foreigners were also seen celebrating this festival with children and youth by applying colours on their face and taking photographs while they were spraying colours at each other using 'pichkaries'.

Meanwhile, police is also maintaining strict vigil across the city.
