Girl commits suicide, another attempts
Srinagar, Mar 22: A girl committed suicide while another made an attempt to end her life in the Kashmir valley where the number of such incidents has increased even after muslim ulmas issued a 'fatwa' declaring it an ''unislamic act''.
Official sources said a girl identified as Parveena Bano consumed some poisonous substance in her home at Chogul Handwara in north Kashmir.
She was immediately rushed to a hospital where she died.
They said another girl Zeerana also consumed some poisonous substance in her Ringward house.
She was admitted to hospital in critical condition.
During the past two weeks three people have committed suicide and half a dozens others made attempt to end their lives.
The trend of committing suicide by people, particularly by women and youths, has not come down despite fatwa by muslim ulmas against it.
