Kohima, Mar 22 (UNI) Congress Legislature Party(CLP) leader I Imkong today accused the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland(DAN) of making false claims of actively facilitating the peace process in Nagaland.
They alleged that the government had done nothing to that effect in its last tenure.
Participating in the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor's address in floor of the House alleged that the DAN had constituted committees to facilitate peace process in its last five years of tenure, but had done nothing to assure the peace process.
He called upon MLA Neiphiu Rio to come out with definite agenda and tabled in the House. ''If such agenda is acceptable, then the Congress party would also extend their hands to such agenda to bring a negotiable and acceptable solution to the Naga problem,'' he said.
Participating in the discussion, Congress legislator Chingwang Konyak said that the DAN Government, in its last tenure of five years, failed to bring about development in the state.
It was only the President's Rule, for which the Public Distribution System was streamlined and there was improvement in the power supply. He also suggested that instead of always thinking of Hydel power generation, the Government should think of Thermal power projects as the state has abundant coal in Mon and Wokha districts.
He further asked the DAN Government to clarify its stand on the unity among all tribes of Nagas, pointing out that without unification of Naga tribes, it will be not possible to find out a solution to the naga political problem.
Earlier, Chief Minister Mr Rio, who is also holding the Finance portfolio, presented the supplementary Demands for grants for regularisation of excess expenditure for the year 1997-1998 and 1999-2000.
Speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie informed the House that discussion on the supplementary Demand for Grants would be taken up in the House on Monday.
