BSF jawan attacks commanding officer
Malda, Mar 22 (UNI) A BSF jawan attacked a commanding officer with a sharp weapon in Malda's Narayanpur area last night, to take revenge against the authorities, who had decided to relieve him of his duties.
Additional DIG R P Z Malik today said that BSF jawan Ram Prasad Sahani, a resident of Jaipur, attacked 172 Battalion Commandant Suresh Kumar Yadav with a sharp weapon and inflicted deep wounds to his head.
''There had been several charges against the jawan and was to be given departmental punishment,'' he said and added, ''he was due to be relieved of his duty.'' Mr Malik said that the jawan had realised that he would lose his job.
The commanding officer is currently undergoing treatment at Malda distrct's Sadar Hospital. Doctors at the hospital said that his condition was now stable.
The jawan is presently in BSF custody and will be court marshalled and later handed over to the police.

BSF,
it
comes
within
our
jurisdiction
as
it
occurred
within
a
civil
area.
We
have
sent
a
requisition
to
the
BSF
authorities
to
hand
him
over.''
