BSF guard fires 17 rounds at his own colleague
Shillong, Mar 22 (UNI) A BSF guard has shot dead his colleague following an altercation at a border outpost in Meghalaya, official sources today said.
Constable Krishan Kumar fired 17 rounds from his Insas rifle at constable Sanjay Kumar Singh late last night after an argument over the allocation of duties at Maheshkhola outpost along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
''Constable Kumar fired at his fellow colleague Constable Singh, who was fast asleep at Maheshkhola BOP,'' DIG, BSF P Colney told UNI over the phone. The BSF officials have ordered an inquiry into the incident.
Both the guards belonged to 17 Battalion of BSF.
Constable Singh belonged to Gandapur area of Jammu and Kashmir, while Kumar is from Bihar.
Meanwhile, the BSF today handed over Kumar to Meghalaya police for necessary actions.
