Melbourne, Mar 22 : Hollywood's power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt doled out more than 8 million dollars in charity and donations in 2006, according to tax records.

Fox News reported on its website, the actors donated more than 4.39 million dollars each to the Jolie Pitt Foundation, which was set up two years ago to aid humanitarian causes around the world.

The Jolie Pitt Foundation had, according to federal tax records, donated about 2.63 million dollars in 2006, including 1.1 million dollars each to Doctors without Borders and the Global AIDS Alliance, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Besides the major amounts that they had donated, Brad and Angelina gave 151,344 dollars to the Namibia Red Cross Action Program, the country where the couple's biological daughter Shiloh was born.

They also made a donation of 110,000 dollars to the Daniel Pearl Foundation, a trust that had been set up to honour the former Wall Street Journal reporter murdered by Islamic extremists in Pakistan.

Jolie even played the role of Pearl's widow Marianne in last year's acclaimed film 'A Mighty Heart'.

Pitt and Jolie also gave 22,000 dollars to an art park in Los Angeles while two orphanages visited by Jolie received 5500 dollars each.

The pair is currently reported to be expecting their second child.
