Pete Doherty treats shoppers with an impromptu gig
Washington, March 21 : 'Babyshambles' rocker Pete Doherty recently amazed shoppers at a music shop by giving an impromptu performance.
Peter Sirrell, the owner of Music Man store in Reading, revealed that Doherty entertained shoppers with a few of his hit songs.
He said that Doherty had to stop when a string of the guitar he was playing broke.
Doherty then reserved a 150-pound guitar, and promised to pay the owner for the one he had broken.
"I thought he was a really nice guy and he was happy to chat, but he got a little bit uncomfortable when a crowd gathered in here. He played a song about a pimp or something like that," Contactmusic quoted Sirrell as telling the Reading Evening Post.
While talking to the newspaper, Doherty said that he was in the town to stage a secret gig.
He, however, did not divulge any details of the planned concert.
Meanwhile, a report in the Middleton Guardian says that Doherty is rumoured to be taking part in a new Channel 4 documentary about the effects of heroin.
The report says that the singer will lodge with a family in Sheffield's Langley estate to see how addiction impacts upon their lives.
He will also attempt to engage youngsters in music therapy in a bid to help them kick the habit.
