Nagaland Governor Emphasises on road improvement
Kohima, Mar 21: Nagaland Governor K Sankaranarayanan has said road infrastructure should be developed and maintained as it is the lifeline of the state's economy.
Addressing the first session of the 11th Nagaland legislative Assembly at the Assembly hall yesterday, the Governor emphasised on improving the quality of state highways and National Highways and called for rapid improvement of road network and infrastructure which will yield rich dividends with the 'Look East policy' of the Union Government.
He said good road connectivity will ensure the state's handicrafts, flowers, vegetables and agricultural products find markets beyond the boundaries and with right linkage, farmers would be in a position to increase their production and their income.
He said during the 11th plan period, his government expects four laning of Kohima-Dimapur road and works of Chiethu Airport, near Kohima, to make substantial progress. Rail connectivity between Kohima and Dimapur, which was still in its conceptual stage, was also expected to make further progress, he said.
