Muslims celebrate Id with religious fervour in Goa
Panaji, Mar 21 (UNI) Muslims, here today celebrated d-e-Milad-un-Nabi with religious fervour and enthusiasm.
The Christians, on the other hand, observed Good Friday, which marks the crucifixion of Lord Jesus Christ, by organising special masses at churches all over the state.
The Muslims organised a huge procession from the city ''Darga'' to Campal Parade Grounds raising slogans in praise of Prophet Mohammed, apostle of peace and embodiment of noble virtues, on his birthday.
Several floats carrying models of religious domes and minerate, displaying holy scriptures, were also seen in the procession. They held mass prayers later.
An atmosphere of bonhomie prevailed all over the procession route with Hindus and Christians hugging the Muslim brethren.
Meanwhile, Governor S C Jamir and Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, in separate messages, greeted the community on the occasion.
