MP CM rejects demand for CBI probe into bribery
Barwani, MP, Mar 21 (UNI) Rejecting the Congress demand for a CBI probe into alleged bribing of Samajwadi Party MLA Kishor Samrite for voting in favour of an independent candidate IN Rajya Sabha elections, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said the main opposition party was attempting to cover its tracks.
''There is scant need for such an inquiry. This state has never had a buy-and-sell culture. The Congress has shamed entire Madhya Pradesh,'' the Chief Minister told mediapersons at this district's Sustikheda.
Holding the Centre guilty for the state's power crisis, Mr Chouhan alleged that 300 MW were slashed from Madhya Pradesh's share.
''Power plants could not be completed at Birsinghpur and Chachai due to the Centre's orchestration. A legal restriction on the Omkareshwar reservoir attaining full-tank level deprived the state of 520 MW. Several areas received insufficient rain,'' he added.
When asked about the ''slow pace'' of inquiry into fake registry in Barwani, Dhar, Khargone and Dewas districts, Mr Chouhan assured that the law would take its course.
