Patna, Mar 20 (UNI) The Muzaffarpur police are all set to go American way in checking crimes to ensure safety through an advisory notice posted on its official website on the pattern adopted in Los Angeles in the US.
Having come into existence recently, the website--www.
muzaffarpurpolice.com was only the second of its kind after Gopalganj district in Bihar to take an e-initiative to check crimes.
It has been designed on the lines of Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) with the mission to make Muzaffarpur a safer place by reducing the ''fear-psychosis'' due to crime rise and also ensuring stringent action against the perpetrators of crimes.
Like a news portal, the website will also carry information on current affairs in the form of a news ticker called ''News Flash Section'', besides a complete ''news capsule'' of recent past in the ''News Archive Section''.
Apart from a glossary of important sections of Indian Penal Codes (IPCs), the website carries well- prepared answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) related to the PIL, FIRs and important provision of the Right to Information Act.
If one is in trouble, needing immediate help from a police officer, the website may come in as a solace as it also carries the name and cell phone numbers of all important police officials in the district. The services may be easily availed by Net users. It is expected that crimes like kidnapping for ransom will now be easily checked as police could swing in action without losing time on the basis of computerised information being monitored round the clock.
A separate column giving detailed information about missing people and most wanted criminals with photographs will be on its web page to trace and track down missing ones and perpretrators of crimes respectively.
