New York, Mar 20 : Heather Mills' lawyer in the U.S has lashed out at the way the animal activist has been treated by the London courts.

Gloria Allred called UK judge Hugh Bennett's decision to make public his ruling in the Macca-Mills divorce case, 'an unnecessary personal attack'.

In his ruling, Judge Bennett branded Mills a "less than impressive witness" who gave "inconsistent and inaccurate but also less than candid" evidence.

"I think it was an unnecessary personal attack, especially because the court knew he was making it public and that one day Heather's little girl would learn about this attack on her mother," the New York Post quoted Allred, as saying.

"This was very unfair because the judge would not release the transcripts [of court proceedings] so the public could see for themselves what evidence Heather presented and how professional and courteous she was in the courtroom."

She however, refused to comment on reports about Mills drenching Macca's attorney Fiona Shackleton.

All she said was: "Divorce is very painful and emotional, especially when there is a disproportionate balance of power. Heather was very courageous to have fought her legal battle by herself."
