'Hair's reinstatement shows PCB weakness at international level'

By Staff

Lahore, Mar 20 : Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has said that the decision of umpire Darell Hair's reinstatement shows Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) weakness at international level.

"The decision of Hair's recall shows PCB's lack of presence at international forums," Ramiz told reporters here.

"It is surprising that Hair was reinstated without being tried and tested. It shows that the international community is ready to walk over Pakistan whenever they want," he added.

But the PCB denied it had been weak on the issue, the Daily Times reported.

"We have made our views clear to the ICC on Hair. The entire matter was thoroughly discussed at the meeting and this is a wrong impression that the PCB was weak on this issue," PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf said.

When asked if Pakistan would object to Hair officiating in any match involving the country, Nasim refused a direct reply, saying "we have full faith on the ICC management that they will take a judicious judgement on the matter."
