Gangjee at joint 5th in Asian Tour International

Chonburi, Thailand, Mar 20 (UNI) India's Rahil Gangjee carded six under 66 to be placed tied fifth while Gaurav Ghei and Amandeep Johl were tied 15th as they fired four under 68 on the opening day of the Asian Tour International here today.

The 24-year-old local boy Sattaya Supupramai was leading with Korean rookie Noh Seung-yul with identical scores of eight-under-par 64.

Gangjee posted four birdies on the 13th, 15th, 17th and 18th holes to be four under at the turn. He then made a birdie on the second and closed with birdie-bogey-birdie on the seventh, eighth and ninth.

Gaurav Ghei shot birdies on the first and second as he started on a high. He then played some steady golf to make eight consecutive pars.

Ghei went to four under after he birdied the 11th and 13th.

However, he dropped a shot with a bogey on the 14th. He came back at the end by making a birdie on the 18th to close at four under.

Amandeep Johl sank an eagle on the par four 13th and birdies on the 16th and 18th to round off an incredible first nine.

On the second nine Johl made birdies on the fourth and ninth besides a double bogey on the par five fifth.

Arjun Singh and Digvijay Singh were tied 82nd as they carded identical scores of even par 72.

Gurbaaz Mann and Firoz Ali are currently tied 106th at one over 73 while Gaganjeet Bhullar, with a score of two over 74 was tied at 126th place.
