Budget for 2008-09 passed in Arunachal Pradesh
Itanagar, Mar 20 (UNI) The Arunachal Assembly today unanimously adopted and passed the Budget for 2008-09 by voice vote.
The budget was tabled in the House yesterday by Finance Minister Kalikho Pul.
Almost all the members participating in the budget discussion appreciated the budget proposals and suggested for equal distribution of need-based schemes in all the districts of the state.
Exhorting the Legislators to put a collective effort for speedy development of the state, Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu assured the House that all the schemes would be judiciously implemented and proper documentation made through still and video photography while executing works.
Stating that utmost care would be taken while choosing need-based schemes, Mr Khandu stated that his government would ensure that all the grievances of the Legislators would be sorted out.
Suggesting that a committee should be constituted to identify the genuine gaon burahs (GBs) and to initiate necessary reform measures while appointing GBs, the Chief Minister opined that necessary criteria should be made while selecting GBs.
Referring to his initiatives for revival of the sick state Cooperative Apex Bank, Mr Khandu categorically stated that appropriate action would be initiated against the defaulters of the bank and no party ticket would be issued to any MLA, who had not repaid bank loans.
Finance Minister Kalikho Pul said despite limited resources and financial constraints, the state government had tried its best in covering all sectors equally in the 2008-09 budget.
'' All administrative approvals have been accorded and once the money is received, fund would be released accordingly, '' he added.
Later, the House adopted and passed the budget unanimously by voice vote, while Speaker Setong Sena later adjourned the three-day budget session sine die.
