Chandigarh, Mar 20 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister today assured the state Assembly that legal action would be taken against the publisher or publishers of text books containing derogatory remarks that offend sentiments of any community or religion.
This assurance was given by the Chief Minister during question hour when Surjet Kumar Jiyani (BJP) pointed out that certain text books prescribed in educational institutions in the Fazilka area contained offending remarks pertaining to a particular religion.
The Chief Minister appreciated the concern of the member and assured the House that he would immediately instructed the concerened Director Public Instructions (DPI) to withdraw and confiscate these books. The government would take strict action as per the law against the publisher or publishers, he told the House.
