Two Nigerians get three days police remand in Vadodara
Vadodara, Mar 19 (UNI) Two Nigerian youths allegedly involved in a series of cyber crimes in Delhi, have been remanded to Vadodara crime branch police custody for three days for interrogation in connection with a cheating case.
The accused duo -- Moses Desmond and Abraham Festol, who were brought to the city from Delhi on Monday on a transfer warrant, yesterday were produced before a local court which sent them to crime branch police custody.
Vadodara Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) sources said the duo allegedly duped one Alpesh Suthar of Rs 1.18 lakh in cash by luring him with a fake internet-based lucky draw worth five lakh pounds last year.
Suthar was sent bogus emails regarding his prize money and was initially asked to deposit Rs 27,000 favouring a Delhi-based Indian Medical General Store to facilitate release of the lottery amount, DCB sources said.
After coming to know that he had been cheated by the Nigerian duo, Suthar filed a complaint with the city police stating that the duo had cheated him to the tune of Rs 1.18 lakh.
Senior City crime branch police personnel were interrogating the duo, the sources said.
