Siliguri, Mar 19 (UNI) About 300 tibetan activists planned to trek to Nathu La, the last post in India's Sikkim state bordering Tibet, to protest "brutal crackdown" on the people in Tibet.
North East Zonal Tibetan Youth Congress president Dawa Gyalpo today said the tibetan activists, monks and nuns would trek about 160 kms in eight days to reach Nathu La in East Sikkim.
He said the trek or "peace march" was being organised by the NEZTYC, would start from Salughora's Kalchakra monastery tomorrow and reach Nathu La, about 14000 foot high on March 28.
The NEZTYC had organised rallies including candle vigil here yesterday to focus plight of the Tibetans in their homeland under China.
