Gandhinagar, Mar 19 (UNI) The Gujarat government has set up special operation groups at all district headquarters as well as in all major cities to counter terrorist activities in the state.
Amit Shah, Minister of State for Home, told the State Legislative Assembly that the Special Operation Group, which will be headed by either Police commissioner or Police superintendent, will maintain a vigil at all key and sensitive locations to pre-empt and counter terrorist activities.
The Group will trace the links of suspects with terrorists and anti-national groups. It will also prepare a list of foreign agents of anti-national elements and their local harbourers, he said.
The group will also investigate the role of foreign funds in anti-national activities and scrutinise suspected travel agents, the minister said.
The members of the group will be armed with state of the art facilities like surveillance cameras, explosives handling kit, bulletproof jackets and night vision devices, he said.
