Rajasthan govt take action against officials for border land sale
New Delhi, Mar 19 (UNI) The Rajasthan Government has placed four sub-registrars under suspension for procedural violations and has started disciplinary action against other officials for large scale irregularity in the land transactions in border areas.
Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply that the Government is aware that large scale land transactions have taken place in the border areas of Rajasthan.
The Rajasthan Government has initiated a detailed inquiry into these transactions with the intention of identifying the purchasers and ascertaining the bona fides/motives behind such transactions.
Preliminary enquiries indicate that lands have also been purchased by parties not belonging to Rajasthan.
While speculation linked to expectations about improved highway connectivity, new projects of irrigation and prospects of oil and gas finds may be a factor for accelerated investments in land in these areas, a definitive conclusion/analysis will be possible only after completion of the detailed enquiry being undertaken by the state Government with the support of the Central agencies.
A high-level review on the subject matter has also been held in the Ministry of Home Affairs and the issue is being closely monitored in coordination with the State Government from time to time, he said.
