Mumbai, Mar 19 (UNI) The DLF Indian Premier League today announced that PepsiCo India, one of the country's leading beverage companies, will be their Official Beverage Supplier.
PepsiCo beverages would thus be the only beverages served at all venues that would host the 59 adrenaline packed games in the DLF Indian Premier League. The Official Beverage Supplier deal is worth 12.5 million dollars for a five year period, a release issued here today stated.
Lalit Modi, Chairman and Commissioner, DLF Indian Premier League said, ''Pepsi has a long history of supporting cricket in the subcontinent and to have them as our beverage suppliers for this league will give our cricket extravaganza a solid boost. It is indeed good to have PepsiCo back as an official supplier to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the DLF Indian Premier League.'' Punita Lal, Marketing Head, PepsiCo India said, ''PepsiCo is proud to be associated with the DLF Indian Premier League, which will not only redefine the game of cricket but also foster Indian cricket talent. DLF India Premier league and the new format will have a large youth audience which is a key target for our brands.'' The DLF Indian Premier League is ready to kick off on April 18, 2008, with some high voltage action expected between Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders and Dr Vijay Mallya's Bangalore Royal Challengers at the Chinnaswamy Stadium at Bangalore, the release added.
