Jammu, Mar 19 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Government has decided to increase the award money for the gallantry awards conferred on valiant soldiers for their heroic deeds.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting held yesterday under the chairmanship of Ghulam Nabi Azad. The annual award money for Param Veer Chakra (PVC) awardees has been raised from Rs 2000 to 1.25 lakhs.
Similarly, for Ashok Chakra, Mahavir Chakra and Kirti Chakra, the award money has been raised to Rs 1 lakh while Vir Chakra and Shaurya Chakra awardees would now get Rs 50,000.
