Bangalore, Mar 19 (UNI) Deputy Chief Election Commissioner R Bhattacharya today began the second phase of review of poll preparation work in the Karnataka ahead of Assembly elections.
The Commission had deputed the official to Karnataka for two days from today for an on-the-spot assessment of preparations, including those for electoral rolls.
He held discussions with the Deputy Commissioners of Bangalore and Mysore Revenue Sub-divisions. Tomorrow, he would be interacting with the Deputy Commissioners of the two other revenue divisions -- Gulbarga and Belgaum.
As part of the first phase of poll preparations, the Electoral authorities had published final list of voters in the State on March ten, barring constituencies coming under City Corporation areas for which the list is expected to be published tomorrow.
The officials have already redrawn 224 assembly constituencies in in the State in accordance with the notification on delimitation of constituencies.
The political parties in the State are expecting the Election Commission to announce Assembly polls at the earliest as the deadline for the President's rule in the State will end on May 28.
