100 activists arrested at Hogenakal
Chamarajanagara, Karnataka, Mar 19 (UNI) About 100 activists belonging to the Hogenakal Horata Samithi and Hogenakal Ulisi Horata Samithi were arrested when they tried to stage a demonstration and blocked highway at Punajanur on the Tamil Nadu border, near here, today.
Police said vehicular traffic was affected for few hours on the state border following the protest by the pro-Kannada activists against Tamil Nadu taking up water project near Hogenakal Falls.
The agitation entered the second month with leaders of all political parties extending their support, with Former Chief Minister and BJP Leader B S Yeddyurappa visiting the spot.
They said the protest would continue until justice was done to the state and the proposed project across river Cauvery was dropped.
