Mass nesting of endangered turtles in Orissa

Ganjam, March 18, 2008 : In a unique natural phenomenon, thousands of endangered Olive Ridley turtles are arriving at a beach in India's eastern Orissa state for the annual mass nesting with conservationists, local residents and wildlife officials in state are keeping vigil.

Every year as winter rolls around, the endangered species move in large synchronised concentrations to three major nesting sites along the Orissa coast.
