TNCC President condemns Yeddyurappa's visit to Hogenakkel
Chennai, Mar 18 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President M Krishnasamy today condemned former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa for visiting Hogenakkel and opposing the Hogenakkal comprehensive drinking water project being implemented by the Tamil Nadu government.
''The act of Mr Yeddyurappa posed a threat to India's sovereignty,'' he said in a statement.
He said the BJP leader was trying to create enemity between the people of two states by claiming that Hogenakkel was an integral part of Karnataka.
When a false campaign like this was launched in 2005, the then Dharmapuri District Collector and the officials from Karnataka studied the border maps of both the states and announced that Hogenakkal belonged to Tamil Nadu.
