Patna, Mar 18 (UNI) The Bihar government today admitted that the sugarcane farmers of West Chmparan district had huge outstanding of Rs 15,68,88,000 on Bagha based Tirupati sugar mill.
Replying to a starred question of Mr Rajesh Ram in the state legislative council, Minister of state for Sugarcane Industry Nitish Mishra said the outstanding amount was since 1998 and the farmers were facing problem due to non payment of price for their sugarcane on time.
He said in order to clear the dues of the sugarcane farmers the government had provided a subsidy of Rs 43 crores in 2006-07. A subsidy of Rs 1,93,65,000 had been releaseed to the district magistrate for clearance of the outstandings at the Tirupati sugar mill.
