UT budget on March 27, session to begin on Mar 26

Puducherry, Mar 18: The budget session of the territorial assembly will begin on March 26 and Chief Minister N Rangasamy, who holds the finance portfolio would present the budget the next day, according to official sources.

The date was finalised at a cabinet meeting held under the Chairmanship of Mr Rangasamy here today with all the five ministers and Secretaries participating. The date would be forwarded to the Lt.Governor, after which the notification would be issued.

The session, being the first sitting of the year, would commence with the customary address by the new Lt.Governor of Puducherry, Lt.Governor (Additional charge) Bhopinder Singh would deliver his first address to the House on the first day.

The session is also expected to be stormy with all the five ministers having raised a banner of revlot against the Chief Minister and have been seeking his removal. The AICC was forced to intervene and sort matters out for the time being.The non-cooperation by the ministers is expected to give Mr Rangasamy a hard time during the session.
