Pakistan trying best to remain Asia Cup host

Islamabad, Mar 18 (UNI) After Australia's refusal to tour Pakistan due to security concerns, the PCB will try it's best to remain as the host country for the Asia Cup, the Nation daily reported today.

''The Asia Cup, to be held from June 24 to July 6, and the September-October's Champions Trophy are in doubt and they are likely to be shifted to Sri Lanka,'' The Nation reported.

The PCB will hold a meeting with the Asian Cricket Council officials on March 19 to discuss the fate of the Asia Cup event and other arrangements.

Sri Lankan Cricket Board chief Arjuana Ranatunga will also attend the meeting.

''The PCB will give a detailed presentation to the ICC delegation on March 20, which will not only assess progress of the arrangements for the Champions Trophy but would also look at the security situation of the country,'' the newspaper reported.

PCB chief Nasim Ashraf, who was in Dubai for the ICC meeting has received tough querries from other board members regarding the security situation in Pakistan.
