Bhopal, Mar 18 (UNI) Opposition members today staged a walk out in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly when their demand for discussion through adjournment motion over violence and arson in Gadarwara town in Narsinghpur district that claimed five lives was rejected.
During the Question Hour, Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi raised the issue of Gadarwara violence and Mr Himanshu Sabharwal starting an indefinite strike here from today to demand a CBI inquiry into the murder of his father Professor H S Sabharwal in Ujjain.
Congress members said some people stormed into a house in Gadarwara town yesterday and killed five people. When people were staging protest against the incident, police targetted them. A curfew-like situation was created.
Opposition members demanded a discussion over the matter through adjournment motion although Speaker Ishwardas Rohani had assured before the inception of the Question Hour that the matter would be discussed through call attention motion.
When their demand was not accepted, opposition members including CPI-M member and other members besides Congress staged a walk out.
Ms Devi raised the issue of demand for CBI inquiry into Prof Sabharwal murder and supported it.
Mr Sajjan Singh Verma (Cong) also raised the issue and said members were also staging walk out in view of demand for a CBI inquiry. At this time, members were staging walk out over Gadarwara issue.
Meanwhile, Mr Himanshu Sabharwal started an indefinite strike at Roshanpura square here today. He demanded the government that the matter be handed over to CBI.
He told reporters that he would show to common people video clippings of violent incidents during student union elections that proved that his father was killed. He said he would continue strike until his demand for CBI inquiry was met.
