Majola confident of ''thumping'' India

By Staff

Durban, Mar 18 (UNI) Upbeat after wresting the top spot in the ICC one-day rankings from Australia, Cricket South Africa (CSA) chief Gerald Majola said Graeme Smith and his boys will ''thump'' India in the upcoming three-match Test series.

''India beware in the forthcoming three match Test series which starts in Chennai next week. Graeme Smith and his boys are going to thump Anil Kumble and his charges,'' Majola said.

The CSA chief was all praise for the leadership qualities of South African skipper Graeme Smith who became the highest ranked batsman in the ICC rankings after a fine run of form in the recent series against Bangladesh.

''Cricket South Africa (CSA) salutes Graeme on remarkable achievements at such a young age. Graeme's leadership qualities have really come to the fore, and CSA is confident that he will take the Proteas to the number one spot in Tests as well,'' Majola stated.

''The Proteas, under Graeme's leadership, have finished the international season as the Number one ODI team in world cricket and are looking to take second spot in the Test ratings,'' he added.

''At the age of 27, Graeme Smith has set several landmarks which put him among the best young captain/batsman yet produced in world cricket.'' South Africa is due to visit India for a three-Test series later this month, with the first match scheduled to start from March 26 at Chennai.
