Hyderabad, Mar 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Women Development, Child Welfare and Disabled Welfare Minister N Rajyalakshmi today said there was no proposal to hand over the Anganwadi Centres to Non-Governmental Organisations(NGOs).
Allaying fears expressed by the opposition members, the minister, replying to the debate on the demand for grants of Rs 1328.39 crore for her department, said the Government would appoint Anganwadi workers and helpers as per the requirement. The Committees, headed by the District collectors, would decide on the recruitment and there was no scope for political interference, she added.
Informing the House that the Government would take assistance from the Life Insurance Corporation of India for implementation of the Integrated Child Development Scheme(ICDS), Ms Rajyalakshmi said, so far, 10.70 lakh people were benefitted by the implementation of the centrally-sponsored scheme.
Stating that the Congress Government was committed to provide three per cent reservation for the physically-challenged people in Government jobs, the minister said the Government was also contemplating to enact a law to punish those, who were exploiting physically challenged people.
