Five injured, 20 houses gutted in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 18: Five people were injured while 20 houses and other structures were gutted in separate incidents in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.

A teenager Ishfaq Ahmad Khawaja got injured after falling off the roof of a vehicle at village Gatingoo. In another incident, three people were wounded when a vehicle, they were traveling in, turned turtle near Jahwar tunnel on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.

Sources said one person was injured when a vehicle met with an accident at Naman Pulwama. All the injured were admitted to different hospitals, sources added.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out in a shop at Shahabad, Sopore, about 55 km from here last night. However, before the fire fighters could control the blaze, it spread to nearby shopping complex, reducing to ashes eight shops, seven store-rooms and three houses.

Two houses were gutted in two different fire incidents at Awantipora and Pantha Chowk, they said, adding there was, however, no report of any loss of life or injury to anyone.
