Mumbai, Mar 18 (UNI) Crude oil May 08 contract was up 2.70 per cent at Rs 4229 per barrel and CFI December 09 by 1.99 pc at Rs 1485 per tonne today.
Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) clocked a total turnover of Rs 6964.30 crore and 90,567 trades.
MCX Comdex, the composite index of metals, energy and ago-commodities, was up 1.39 pc at 2812.09 points. A mixed trend prevailed in most commodity contracts, MCX release said.
Bullion turnover consisted of gold Rs 2638.31 crore, with a volume of 20,138 kgs and open interest of 13,238 kgs. Silver clocked a turnover of Rs 1466.45 crore with a volume of 5,60,165 kgs and open interest of 315,800 kgs.
Bar gold December 08 contract was down 1.04 pc at Rs 13136 per 10 grams and gold August 08 contract was down 0.89 pc at Rs 13185 per 10 grams. Other gold contracts gained marginally. In Silver, September 08 contract was down 1.22 pc at Rs 26,400 per kg and silver M August 08 contract down 0.41 pc at Rs 26,547. Other contracts made marginal gains.
Copper, tin and zinc contracts moved up. Tin April 08 contract rose by 1.38 pc at Rs 842.25 per kg, while lead May 08 contract shed 2.54 pc at RS 116.95 per kg.
Crude oil contracts improved with a 2.70 pc gain at Rs 4229 per barrel in crude oil May 08 contract. Only crude oil August 08 contract weakened. All CFI contracts improved. CFI December 10 contract gaining 1.99 pc at Rs 1642 per tonne. Natural gas May 08 contract was down 1.65 pc at Rs 376.30 per mmBTU.
Most agriculture contracts were marked by downward trend. All refsoyoil, chana, cardamom, sugarsklp, rubber and soyabean contracts moved southward. Cardamom contracts lost heavily. Both potato Agra and potato TRWR contracts made gains including a 4.01 pc rise to Rs 378.60 per quintal of potato TRWR April 08 contract and 3.29 pc to Rs 505.20 per quintal of Potato Agra contract.
Potato TRWR April 08 contract topped the list of gainers with a 4.01 pc rise at Rs 378.60 per quintal and crude oil May 08 contract by 2.70 pc at Rs 4,229 per barrel. Cardamom April 08 contract with 3.98 pc at Rs 566.50 per kg and chana March 08 contract with 2.37 pc at Rs 2,675 per quintal were among the losers.
Gold April 08 contract clocked a volume of 18,375 kgs and nickel March 08 contract 922,500 kgs, MCX release added.
