Cong for legal remedy if EC fails to revise voters list
Bangalore, Mar 18 (UNI) Congress in Karnataka may take a legal recourse if Election Commission went ahead with its 'hasty' plans to hold elections in the state without revising the electoral rolls, KPCC President Mallikarjuna Kharge said today.
Talking to newspersons here, he charged that about one-fifth of the names figuring in the electoral list had been summarily deleted by the State Election Commission and thereby 'denying' opportunity to large sections of the people to participate in the elections.
Mr Khare said the Congress had presented several examples, in which, genuine and eligible names had been deleted from the voters list.
''If Election Commission went ahead with elections in haste with the defective electoral rolls, the party may have to think of a legal recourse,'' the Congress leader said.
