Hyderabad, Mar 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to direct the concerned officials to adopt corrective measures, following the spiraling prices of cement and steel.
In the letter to the Prime Minister, a copy of which was given to the press here, Dr Reddy said the unabated increase in the prices of cement and steel were severely affecting the constrcution and infrastructure projects in the State.
He said ''the cement and steel producing industrialists are resorting to exorbitant revisions in the prices and these hikes are indiscriminate with reference to their production costs. This has also been seriously jeopardizing the targets set by the State Government in INDIRAMMA housing and Jalayagnam programmes.'' UNI AP GKT 2135
