Assembly passes budgetary demand of industries, Opp walks out
Patna, Mar 18 (UNI) Amid noisy walk-out by the entire Opposition, the Bihar Assembly today passed the budgetary demand of Rs 381.40 crore of Industries department for the fiscal 2008-09.
While replying to the special debate on budgetary demand of his department in the House, Minister of State for Industries (Ind charge) Gautam Singh said the State Government had allotted ten acre of land for establishing National Institute of Technology(NIT) at Mithapur here.
Teaching in the NIT would begin in June this year itself, he added.
''The Central Government has given clearance for a Textile park in Bhagalpur and the State Government has also allotted more than 150 acre of land for the purpose, '' Mr Singh informed.
The Minister said the Bihar Government had prepared special scheme for the welfare of weavers in Bhagalpur and a grant of Rs 10,000 would be given to those interested in purchasing generators.
A plot of 25 acre had been identified in Bhagalpur for creating handloom park, he said and appealed to all political parties for acclerating the pace of industrial development in the state.
Dissatisfied with the reply of the Minister, the Opposition walked out of the House.
After rejecting the cut motion, moved by Independent MLA Kishore Kumar Munna, the House passed the budgetary demand of the Industries department.
