Bangalore, Mar 18(UNI) Hundreds of Anganawadi workers from all parts of Karnataka today staged 'Raj Bhavan Chalo' agitation demanding, among other things, regularisation of the services and introduction of pension scheme for the retired.
The agitators, who arrived from Bangalore Rural, Bellary, Dharwad, Mangalore Districts and other parts assembled at the City Railway Station marched towards Raj Bhavan. However, they were stopped by the police near old Central Jail.
Karnataka State Anganawadi Employees Union Joint Secretary S Saroja later submitted a memorandum to the Governor.
The other demands included maternity benefits and reintroduction of ICDS programmes meant for children in Anganawadi Centres.
