UP CS, DGP assures HC in wholesale mandi case

Allahabad, Mar 17 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief secretary P K Mishra and Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh, who were personally present before a division bench of the Allahabad High Court in connection with no shifting of the wholesale mandis in Kanpur, assured the Judges that by June 30, 2008 every endeavor would be made to prevent business activity in the prohibited area.

The state chief secretary, DGP, mandi samiti director and other authorities appeared in the HC, as they failed to implement the court's earlier direction to shift the wholesale mandis of Kanpur to Navin Mandi Sthal, Naubatsa, Kanpur.

The authorities appeared before the bench comprising Justices A Kumar and Sudhir Agarwal and said that the process of implementation of the order has already began, but the progress was slow.

The state government was represented by Advocate General Jyotindra Mishra, Additional Advocate General Zafar Naigar and Chief Standing Counsil M C Chaturvedi. The bench passed this order on a writ petition filed by Aaloo Adhati Sangh.

The Court will now hear this case on July 4, 2008 UNI VCP JAS MSJ RS2117
