Mandakalli airport to be fully operational by December
Mysore, Mar 17 (UNI) The modernisation of Mandakalli airport here is progressing well and it will be fully operational by this December, Airports Authority of India (AAI) Deputy General Manager M N N Rao said today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the work on the first phase would be completed soon, enabling ATR aircraft to start operation.
He said the state government would supply water and electricity, free of cost, to the airport for five years.
With the completion of the second phase, the airport would be able to accommodate Airbus 737.
He said the realignment of the National Highway between Mysore and Ooty had been cleared by the Union Ministry to take up the airport expansion work.
Lok Sabha member C H Vijayashankar, present on the occasion, said the state government would provide additional land required for the airport modernisation.
