New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) The five-day fashion jamboree came to an end last night with Bollywood actor Katrina Kaif strutting the catwalk in a scintillating black gown for designers Anamika Khanna and Ashish Soni's show.
'Made in India' was a magnificent tribute to Indian fashion in the finale. The highlights of the collection were the innovations with the fabric giving them a clean, sharp and fresh look.
Designs from ebony modal dress with cowl draping at the back-to-black satin trousers, crepe suit, jacquard jackets were coupled with quilted silk belts.
FDCI Executive Director Sumeet Nair told UNI, ''The event passed off smoothly and it was very good in terms of buyers, sponsors and media.'' Earlier in the day, noted designer Raghvendra Rathore presented his 'Rathore Jodhpur' collection. Riding pants, leggings, semi-casual shorts and trousers, pants and shirts formed a part of his distinct creation.
A total of 13 designers,including three debut designers -- Virtues by Ashish, Vikral and Vikrant, Charu Parashar and Ekru by Ekta Jaipuria and Ruchira Kandhari-- displayed their exhibits.
Designer Swapan and Seema's fall winter '08 collection was attributed to natural autumn colours. The collection was purely synthesis, with creations ranging from sarees, suits, lehngas and skirts.
Anant by Shobna and Vijay Arora revealed different ranges. The day wear men's range showcased pants based on denim. The second part included sarees for the evening with beautiful embellishments.
Designer Priya Awasthi transported audience to 'Bengal Renaissance' with her label 'Priya'.
The creation displayed traditional Indian ensembles such as tunics, pyjamas, kurtas, jodhpurs and churidars.
Collections showcased by other designers on the last day of the event were by Puja Arya, Renu Tandon and Anju Modi.
