Advani's comments on corruption smack of hycpocrisy: Cong
New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) The Congress today rejected BJP leader L K Advani's reported charge that the Congress-led UPA was seeped in corruption, stating that this comment smacked of hypocrisy.
The NDA had faced a long list of corruption charges when it was in power, starting from Mr Bangaru Laxman taking money on camera when he was the BJP President, followed by a similar incident involving Ms Jaya Jaitley and the Barak missile and HUDCO scams, Congress spokesman Abishek Singhvi told reporters.
Mr Advani's accusation was akin to the thief scolding the policeman as no corruption charges had been levelled against the UPA in the past four years, Mr Singhvi said.
There was a vast qualitative difference between the government of Dr Manmohan Singh and the NDA regime, he argued.
The spokesman said the Congress was in total agreement with the government's stand on the situation in Tibet and expressed the confidence that normalcy would return in Lhasa and other areas of that region soon.
