Hyderabad, Mar 16 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj V Patil today said the Centre would provide all necessary help to upgrade the Sardar Vallabhai Patel (SVP) National Police Academy into a world-class training institute.
Inaugurating a Diamond Jubilee Complex at the Academy here, he said the Academy would be made a platform for experts from other police training academies around the world to exchange ideas.
Stating that the police force should be equipped to meet the challenges of the modern world, he said ''while discharging duties, the police officers should make sure that no innocent citizens are affected.'' Speaking on the occasion, Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari said the police leadership should inculcate high-standards of self discipline and physical fitness into the force.
The police officers should discharge their duties in an unbiased manner and guard themselves against all allurements, leading to corruption, he added.
SVP National Police Academy Director G S Rajagopal said the Academy would be a centre for research studies and would expand its resource base through tie-ups with similar institutions within and outside the country.
