Puducherry, Mar 16 (UNI) The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder leader S Ramdoss alleged that the rulers in Puducherry failed to give the PMK parliamernt member from Puducherry M Ramadass due respect despite the PMK supporting the Congress Government here.

Addressing a public meeting at Villianur near here late last night Dr Ramdoss said if the Ministers were in touch with Prof Ramadass, who was described as the best parliamentarian by the Prime Minister, Puducherry with 10 lakh population could have been made a Singapore. Prof Ramadass had schemes with him to ensure this, he claimed.

Stating that PMK was not an opposition party, Dr Ramdoss claimed that during the 2004 parliament elections it was Ramadass who had raised the voice that Sonia Gandhi should become the Prime Minister.

Criticising the provision of freebies, Ramdoss said provide job to the people so that they could come up themselves. Provision of freebees is cheap politics, he added.

The PMK had prepared draft Budget for Tamil Nadu for the last six years and Prof Ramadass, an able economist would prepare the draft Budget for Puducherry next year, Ramdoss said.

PMK had brought several Railway schemes for Puducherry and Mr Velu was now fulfilling the schemes previously developed by A K Murthy. He also congratulated Rajya Sabha member from Puducherry V Narayansamy for raising voice for the retrival of Katchatheevu.

Ridiculing the territorial administration for its failure to devolve powers to the elected local body representatives albeit the elections were held after a gap of 38 years, he said local body was a separate Government and unless this functions properly, the functioning of the state Government could not be proper.
