Octroi agents likely go on flash strike from mid-night
Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made all preparation at 'Octroi points' at all three entry points in the eventuality of lightening stike called by Octroi collecting agents from this mid-night.
BMC Spokesperson Saudagar Jadhav told UNI here tonight that the corporation has deployed 15-15 officers each at three Check Nakas--Vashi, Mira-Bhyendar and Mulund to monitor the situation. The corporation has set-up posts at the check nakas.
Top officials of the corporation met City Police Commissioner Hassan Gafoor and Commissioner D Sivanandan for requirement of additional forces at the check nakas to control any eventuality and smooth running traffic.
Octroi agents are likely to go on strike in wake of corporation's continued raids at the Nakas and seizure of 130 to 140 vehicles which cross the check nakas without paying duty, he said and added nine cases has been registered u/s 420,465,467 of Indian Penal code (IPC) against octroi agents.
