Lt Gen Kumar inaugurates garden and flower show
Jalandhar, Mar 16 (UNI) Vajra Corps General Officer Commanding Lt Gen SS Kumar here today inaugurated the annual garden and flower show, organised by the Station Headquarters and Cantonment Board.
Among others, Vajra Corps Chief of Staff Maj Gen KMS Shergill, Army Wives Welfare Association president Mrs Preeti Kumar graced the occasion. Senior Army and civil officers and large number of people also witnessed this garden and flower show.
This year, nearly 200 varieties of flowers came for display in the competition. The various flowers like Foliage plant, Potted flowers, Cut flower, flower arrangement etc were displayed during the show.
The show was divided into two groups. First group was open for all, whereas the second group was open for working soldiers.
Gardens from various education insitutions, individual and public gardens, terrace gardens and Regimental gardens participated in this competition.
On the spot painting and quiz competition for the children were also organised on the occasion. The children displayed termendous enthusiasm, talent and innovativeness during the competition.
In addition to individual prizes, running trophies were also awarded for the best maintained institutional garden, best maintained round about, best maintained private garden and a best maintaned arboricultural project.
A spectacular dog show by Army dogs unit was also organised on the occasion. Sniffer and mine detection dogs of the Army displayed their skills and enthralled the spectators with their spectacular detection drills.
