Congress 'group' clashes at GHCC meeting in city
Hyderabad, Mar 16 (UNI) Supporters of the two City Congress leaders clashed with each other damaging furniture, chairs and setting ablaze the tent at a meeting organised by Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee (GHCC) in Secunderabad today.
The supporters of P Krishna and woman party leader Mary Ravindranath threw chairs at each other when the State Minority Cell President Sirajuddin was not invited to the meeting dais to address the meeting.
The GHCC President D Nagendar, who was present at the meeting, tried to pacify the two groups. However, the activists set afire to the tent and damaged the furniture at the spot.
The GHCC had organised the party meeting to prepare a strategy for the coming bypoll to Secunderabad Assembly Constitutency, which fell vacant after the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) MLA Padma Rao resigned from the membership along with other TRS MLAs last week, demanding that the United Progressive Alliance(UPA) grant statehood for Telangana and in protest against the Congress 'deceived' politics on Telangana issue.
