Jammu, Mar 16 (UNI) The Central government has sanctioned Rs 72 crore for the construction of Howrah-type bridge at Basholi on Ravi river, Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju today said.
Mr Raju, who visited Basohli and inspected the proposed site for bridge, said, ''Rs 72 crore have been sanctioned for Basohli Ravi bridge and within three months, the private company will be finalized for the construction of the bridge which will be completed within 24 months.'' Chief Executive Project 'SAMPARK' Brig U S Dadu briefed the plans to the MoS regarding the Dhar-Basohli-Bani- Bhaderwah defence road.
Meanwhile, local Lok Sabha Member Choudhary Lal Singh said Basohli-Ravi bridge will connect Basohli with Himachal and Punjab.
''World famous Basohli paintings and Pashmina Shawls will attract the tourists from all over the world,'' Mr Singh said, asserting that the bridge will boost the economy of the area.
